Box Score PHOENIX, AZ – The Hope International Royals women's soccer team shutout the Arizona Christian Firestorm on Saturday afternoon by a final of 1-0.
With the loss, the Firestorm fall to 2-14 overall and 0-9 in GSAC play, while William Jessup improves to 10-7 overall and 4-5 in GSAC play this season.
The Firestorm women kept it close with the Royals in the first half, playing to a scoreless tie. In that first half, ACU was outshot seven to one and HIU had five corner kicks to just one for ACU.
In the second half, it was all Royals! HIU outshot the Firestorm 12-1 and wasted little time in getting into the scoring column.
Just two minutes into the second half, Amanda Scheatzle sent a crossing pass from the right end line to the middle of the field to connect with Allysa Stencil for the goal in the 47th minute. The goal was Stencil's eighth of the season.
ACU had just two shots in the game, but received another stellar start from Alex Dugan in net; who allowed the one goal while making 11 saves.
The Arizona Christian women's soccer team closes out their 2014 season with a home match, a week from today on Saturday November 1st against Vanguard University at 11am. The game will be played on field number two at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex as part of ACU Homecoming 2014.
