PHOENIX, AZ – The 11th ranked Vanguard Lions women's soccer team routed the Arizona Christian Firestorm by a final of 9-0 on Senior Day at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Firestorm end their season with a record of 2-15 overall and 0-10 in GSAC play, while Vanguard improves to 10-7 overall and 4-5 in GSAC play this season.

The Lions got on the scoreboard early on Saturday afternoon, as Madison Cody scored the game's first goal in the eighth minute, to give Vanguard a 1-0 lead.

Vanguard would then strike for five more goals before halftime, to take a 6-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Lions kept their foot on the gas pedal and scored three more goals on their way to the 9-0 victory over the Firestorm. With the win, Vanguard clinched a share of the GSAC Regular Season Title.

Before the game, seniors Alex Dugan, Mindy Kleppe, Kristi Hayes, Chelsea Ruland, Melissa Rivera and Ericka Haddock were all honored for their contributions while here at Arizona Christian University.
