Box Score La Mirada, CA- Freshman Marisa Ortiz turned out to the lone bright spot for Arizona Christian in their matchup with #11 Biola on Tuesday night. The Eagles twisted a tie game in a 6-1 route.
Just two and a half minutes into the contest, the Eagles (7-0, 1-0 GSAC) turned the first shot of the game into a goal.
Over the next 23 minutes, the match saw both team exchange their best blows as six shots apiece were taken by both teams. Ortiz managed three of those efforts with her third shot finding the back of the net- a left footed volley from just inside the box. For Ortiz, it was her third goal of the season.
Unfortunately from there, it was all Biola as they cashed in three goals in the final nine minutes of the half.
The only real chance for the Firestorm in that time frame was a free kick hit by Freshman Braxton Carhart that bounced off the top of the crossbar.
Another BU goal just 67 seconds into the second half eliminated any thoughts of a comeback by ACU.
Senior Serenity Masterson did surrender all six goals but she also recorded a career high 14 saves.
For the Firestorm, they will look to regroup on Saturday when they host Hope International at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex at 11:00 am.
