Ledezma and Poortinga Receive All-Conference Honors

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Less than a week after being named Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, ACU women's soccer forward Irene Ledezma and goalkeeper Jackie Poortinga have been named to the GSAC All-Conference Team, according to an official release from the conference office earlier today.

Ledezma was an offensive force to be reckoned with this season as she finished with three multi-goal contests.  She also closed the season third all-time in career goals (20), tied for second in all-time career points (54), and was ACU's season leader in points (17), goals (7), and assists (3).

Poortinga was sidelined for a portion of the season due to an injury, but when healthy she created problems for opponent offenses.  She logged 26 saves overall during the season in six games, played 489:02 minutes in-goal, and set a career and season high with a 13-save performance against Ottawa University - Arizona on Jan. 30, 2021.

Ledezma is poised to return to the program next season and should be a key factor in ACU's offensive gameplan.  Poortinga's career as a member of the Firestorm women's soccer program came to an end after last week's shutout win over William Jessup, but she is now set to pursue a career in her field as she leaves college
