Phoenix, AZ.- Just one week after shaking the rust off, the Firestorm men's swim team competed against largely D1 and D2 swimmers at Brophy High School, and came away with improved times, and four provisional marks for NAIA rankings.
Head Coach
Brad Hering said, "It was good to have swims against some very fast swimmers. Also, the weather was just right for better swims! I am very proud of this team for their character and team unity."
Of the four NAIA Provisional marks the men earned on Friday and Saturday, freshman
Isaiah Porritt earned two of them. The first was in the 50 Yard Freestyle (21.94), and the second was in the 100 Breaststroke (59.62). Also earning provisional marks was sophomore
CJ Trettel in the 1000 Freestyle (10:34.13), and freshman
Jackson Lee in the 200 Butterfly (2:00.15).
In addition to these individual performances, the men's team now has three relays ranked in the top 25 nationally, the 200 Medley, 400 Freestyle, and 200 Freestyle.
In a final reflection on the meet Coach Hering said, "We are approaching mid-season, and the best is yet to come! We are grateful for the privilege to swim, and we are trusting God for even better swims to come!"
