Sandy Birds Suffer Close Loss To Mustangs

Eliana Cho/Railey Dykstra pocketed their first win as a pair against #7 TMU

Santa Clarita, Calif. - In a clash between two NAIA Top-10 teams, #3 Arizona Christian lost a hard-fought 3-2 match against #7 The Master's. The Lady Firestorm squandered a 2-1 lead with the one and five pair finding themselves on the wrong side of three-set showdowns.

Haley Brown/Riley Brown collected ACU's first point of the match, defeating the Mustangs' two pair in two tightly-contested sets. Tied 1-1 through the even-numbered doubles, Eliana Cho/Railey Dykstra earned their first point as a duo this season by slamming the door shut with a 22-20 second set.

The trusty five pair Amaya Brown/Emily Katzer suffered only their second loss in GSAC play in three sets after pocketing the first.

The match's outcome hung in the balance, the number ones left to determine the winner. Though Misty McCall/Mia Scheepens dug deep in the second set to pull even, they could not carry the newly-found momentum through the finish line and fell in three.
