Four Sandy Birds On NAIA All-America Team

Glendale, Ariz. - Amaya Brown/Emily Katzer and Misty McCall/Mia Scheepens were selected to the 2024 NAIA Women's Beach Volleyball All-America team, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics earlier today. Brown/Katzer earned one of eight spots available on First Team All-America while McCall/Scheepens were voted to Second Team All-America.

Eligibility for All-America status is dependent upon a minimum participation level of 66% at a flight, per the NAIA release. The NAIA-BVCA Executive Committee determined 16 deserving pairs during the regular season.

Amaya Brown/Emily Katzer (First Team)

The freshman (Katzer), senior (Brown) duo produced a 23-9 overall record, closing the 2024 season with an immaculate 8-0 postseason run. To add to an already impressive resume, Brown/Katzer posted a 12-2 record against GSAC opponents and were extremely reliable in the match-clinching role (12-for-12 in clinching opportunities).

The season-long crutch and five pair for the Firestorm afforded their squad a chance (24-22, 21-18) to advance to the 2024 NAIA Women's Beach Volleyball Invitational championship match, capping off a 5-0 week in Greeneville, Tennessee.

Misty McCall/Mia Scheepens (Second Team)

The two juniors, already named 2024 GSAC All-Conference and 2024 AVCA Beach All-America, added a third distinction to their 2024 campaign. McCall/Scheepens, season-long partners and owners of the number one spot, finished with a 16-14 overall record and a 4-3 record in the postseason (led Saint Katherine match 21-12, 20-18 but was not made official due to NAIA Invitational's "cease and clinch" rule).

Like Brown/Katzer, the Firestorm's one pair elevated their play (3-1) in the 2024 NAIA Invitational and were essential pieces of the team's semifinal berth. Scheepens was voted to the Invitational's All-Tournament team and McCall was tabbed Most Valuable Player in addition to her All-Tournament status.

Congratulations to all four of you, and to God be the glory!
