Lady Firestorm Struggle in Home Doubleheader

Glendale, Ariz.- Arizona Christian University women's tennis battled through a competitive doubleheader, falling narrowly to Bethel College, 4-3, before dropping a 4-2 decision to Western New Mexico University.

Match One against Bethel
  • In the opener against Bethel, ACU showed grit after surrendering the doubles point. The Threshers claimed courts No. 1 and No. 2 to take the early 1-0 edge, but the Firestorm answered at No. 3 as Ava Zink and Eloise Bigot rolled to a 6-1 victory to keep momentum within reach.
  • Arizona Christian found its rhythm in the lower half of the singles lineup. Zink delivered a resilient three-set comeback at No. 4, bouncing back after dropping the first set to earn a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win. Bigot was steady and composed at No. 5, cruising to a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 victory. Savannah Salvin followed with a strong performance at No. 6, closing out a 6-3, 7-5 win.
  • Despite the surge, Bethel secured wins on the top three courts to clinch the narrow 4-3 team victory. Still, the Firestorm's dominance on courts four through six highlighted the squad's depth and competitive fight.

Match Two against Western New Mexico
  • In the second match of the day against Western New Mexico, ACU flipped the script in doubles. After dropping No. 1 doubles, the Firestorm responded with strong performances on courts No. 2 and No. 3. Salvin and Gracie Madeya edged out a tight 7-6 victory at No. 2, while Bigot and Zink secured a 6-4 win at No. 3 to claim the doubles point.
  • Bigot continued her strong day in singles, rallying after a first-set loss at No. 5 to win 1-6, 6-1, 6-0. Salvin also battled in a tightly contested match at No. 6, pushing to three sets in a back-and-forth affair.
  • Western New Mexico ultimately captured the match with wins on the top four singles courts, but Arizona Christian once again demonstrated resilience and depth throughout the lineup.
