Huntington Beach, Calif.- Day two at the GSAC Jamboree hosted at Huntington Beach State Park saw Arizona Christian play just one match on Thursday morning. The final match playing needed three sets to decide the team winner and the Sandy Birds came up just short to the Golden Eagles.
La Sierra claimed both countable matches (2s and 4s) in the first flight for a 2-0 lead.
Jasmin Joseph and
Jaiden Zeis forced a third set at the twos but were on the wrong side of a 16-14 score.
The second flight saw
Alyssa Robles and
Abigail Nelson roll quickly through their match at threes for a 21-11, 21-16 victory.
Kapri Espinosa and
Lilly Petersen tied the team match at 2-2 with a 21-14 and 21-10 win at the fives.
All attention turned toward the ones where LSU had won the first set and
Emily Casner and
Emee Fellens responded by producing a 21-9 second set win. The Golden Eagles duo sealed the match for La Sierra with a 15-7 win.
Day three at the beach will find Arizona Christian facing Life Pacific on Friday at 9:00 am.
