ACU Battles OUAZ To A Tie

Glendale, Ariz. – Arizona Christian battled OUAZ to a 1-1 draw, with the Firestorm getting on the board first before the Spirit answered late in the second half.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • ACU and OUAZ battled in the first half, with early opportunities but none were able to go into the net. 
  • Both teams were tied going into halftime. 
  • The Firestorm were hungry for a goal as Edith Delgado found the back of the net for her first goal of the season with just 20 seconds into the half, giving the Firestorm a 1-0 advantage. Krista Hardesty provided the assist on the opening goal.
  • The Firestorm continued to compete defensively throughout the second half, with goalkeeper Tayler Wonderly playing a key role between the posts. Wonderly finished the match with eight saves, repeatedly keeping ACU in front as OUAZ applied pressure.
  • OUAZ eventually found the equalizer in the 86th minute when Jocelyn Smith scored to bring the match level at 1-1.
  • ACU tied with OUAZ, 1-1.
