Box Score SANTA BARBARA, CA – In a game on inches, it took until the final second to declare a winner Saturday, as the Westmont Warriors knocked off the Arizona Christian Firestorm men's soccer team by a final of 1-0.
With the loss, the Firestorm fall to 3-9 overall and 0-5 in GSAC play, while Westmont College improves to 7-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in GSAC play this season.
In one of the best games all season, the Firestorm came up on the short end of the stick, as the Westmont Warriors got a goal from Tanner Wolf; his third of the season on a shot from four yards out as the horn sounded to give Westmont a 1-0 victory.
Firestorm goaltender Jorge Arauz played all 90 minutes between the pipes for ACU and recorded 10 saves.
On a night that saw the Firestorm come up just short at the buzzer, ACU was outshot by Westmont 25-4.
It was a very physical game, as the Westmont Warriors were called for 11 fouls, compared to just four for Arizona Christian.
Spencer Petty received the win and a shutout for Westmont as their starting goalie.
The Arizona Christian men's soccer team will return home this Wednesday for a GSAC match-up with San Diego Christian College. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30pm and will be preceded by the ACU women at 3pm at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex.
