Box Score IRVINE, CA – The Arizona Christian Firestorm men's soccer team lost on Saturday afternoon to Vanguard University by a final of 5-1 in Costa Mesa, California.
Vanguard struck early and often on Saturday afternoon with three first half goals. The first goal of the game came in the 10th minute off of the foot of Brian Pautasso from Zac Way. Vanguard got on the board again two minutes later on a Luis Valdiva goal; once again assisted by Zac Way. Brian Torres added one more goal for the Lions, to make it 3-0 at halftime.
Vanguard would strike for two goals in the second half in the 64th and 67th minute to take a 5-0 lead before the Firestorm got on the board. ACU scored on a low shot to the left side by Trevor Cates on a Jesus Silva assist.
Jorge Arauz took the loss for the Firestorm in net; as he allowed all five goals, while making nine total saves.
The Arizona Christian Firestorm men's soccer team returns home this Tuesday, to host Hope International University. Gametime is scheduled for 5:30pm and will be preceded by Firestorm women's soccer game, which starts at 3pm. The games will be played at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex on Field 2.
