Box Score FULLERTON, CA – The Arizona Christian Firestorm men's basketball team fell to South Oregon University, by a final of 84-72 in day two of the Hope International Classic; hosted by Hope International University in Fullerton, California.
With the loss, the Firestorm fall to 3-2 overall, while Eastern Oregon improves to 4-1 overall with the victory.
The Firestorm knew they would have their hands full on Saturday, dealing with a tough Southern Oregon squad. In the first half, ACU shot 45% from the floor, to Southern Oregon's 47%. At the half, SOU had just a seven point lead at 41-34.
In the second half, the scoring was closer but SOU shot 59% from the floor, while ACU shot only 33% from the floor. The Firestorm were outscored in the second half 43-38 on their way to an 84-72 loss. Eric Thompson led Southern Oregon with 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting with nine rebounds and a pair of steals.
In the losing effort, the Firestorm were led by Bobby Gray; who scored 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Gray also chimed in with five rebounds and four assists.
The Firestorm will now take their longest break of the season, as they have ten days off until they return to action. ACU returns to the court on Tuesday November 25th, when they host New Mexico Highlands University at 7:30pm at the Fultz Memorial Gymnasium.
