Box Score PHOENIX, AZ – The Arizona Christian University women's basketball classic kicked-off on Friday evening, with Montana State University – Northern defeating San Diego Christian College by a final of 79-41. The University of Great Falls in Montana knocked off the hosts' Arizona Christian by a final of 92-80.
With the loss, ACU falls to 1-2 overall on the season.
In game one on Friday, undefeated Montana State Northern struck early and often against San Diego Christian College, as they outscored the Hawks 53-12 in the first half. The MSUN Skylights outshot San Diego Christian 51% to 29%.
In the second half, the Hawks tried to mount a comeback as they outscored Montana State 29-26, but ended up falling 79-41.
In game two on Friday, the home standing Arizona Christian Firestorm hosted the University of Great Falls. In the first half, the game was close as the two teams exchanged buckets. At the half, Great Falls would take a two point lead of 40-38 into the lockeroom.
In the second half, Great Falls would flex their muscles and mount a late run to get past the Firestorm by a final of 92-80.
In the losing effort, Alyssa Gruber led all scorers with 27 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Day two of the Arizona Christian University Classic will begin at 5:30pm on Saturday, following the ACU against Concordia volleyball game. Saturday's match-up includes San Diego Christian against the University of Great Falls (MT) and the hosts; Arizona Christian taking on Montana State University – Northern. Tickets for the classic are $7 and includes admission into both games.
