Box Score SANTA CLARITA, CA– The 13th ranked Arizona Christian Firestorm men's basketball team went on the road and defeated The Master's College Mustangs on Thursday afternoon by a score of 78-70 in Santa Clarita, California.
With the victory, the 13th ranked Firestorm improve to 16-3 overall and remain undefeated in GSAC play at 5-0. With the loss, The Master's College Mustangs fall to 5-10 overall and remain winless at 0-5 in GSAC play.
In the first half, the Firestorm owned the Mustangs, outscoring The Master's College 45-36 heading into halftime. ACU shot 47% from the field and shot 37% from the three-point arc. The Firestorm also went 10-for-16 from the free-throw line in the first half. The Mustangs shot 40% from the field in the first half and shot a horrendous 16% (2-for-12) from beyond the three-point arc. The Mustangs did however shoot an impressive 8-for-10 (80%) from the free-throw line in the first half.
The Master's College outscored Arizona Christian in the second half 34-33; but the Firestorm still prevailed with the 78-70 win. ACU shot 42% from the field in the second half and shot 40% from downtown. The Firestorm also shot 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. The Mustangs shot just 32% from the field and 28% from the three-point arc; yet outscored ACU by a point in the second half.
The Firestorm were had three players score in double-figures, with Bobby Gray leading the way with 15 points. Sharif Watson chipped in with a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds.
The Firestorm men will remain on the road, as they travel to Westmont College on Saturday for a 5pm MST tip-off against the Warriors. ACU will return home on Saturday January 24th, when William Jessup comes to Phoenix for a 3pm tip-off.
