Firestorm Glide by San Diego Christian

PHOENIX, AZ– The 10th ranked Arizona Christian Firestorm men's basketball team disposed of the San Diego Christian Hawks on Saturday afternoon by a final of 81-75 inside of the Fultz Memorial Gymnasium on the campus of Arizona Christian University.

With the victory, the 10th ranked Firestorm improve to 18-5 overall and 7-2 in GSAC play. With the loss, the San Diego Christian Hawks drop to 5-13 overall and remain winless in GSAC play at 0-9.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle between these two GSAC opponents. Both teams traded off the leads throughout the half, with the Firestorm claiming the slim one point lead at halftime at 40-39. ACU shot 48% from the field in the first half, while shooting just 33% from beyond the three-point arc. The Firestorm went 5-for-7 from the free-throw line in the first half. On the other side of the court, the Hawks shot 47% from the field and 40% from behind the three-point arc. San Diego Christian shot just two free-throws in the first half, making one of them.

In the second half, the Firestorm pulled away late as they outscored San Diego Christian 41-36 on their way to a 81-75 victory. ACU shot 47% from the field and just 30% from beyond the three-point arc. The Firestorm dominated the charity stripe in the second half, making 16 out of their 22 attempts. San Diego Christian on the other hand shot 44% and 23% from behind the three-point arc. San Diego Christian made just two of their six free-throw attempts.

The Firestorm had four players score in double-figures in the victory, with Sharif Watson leading the way with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

The Firestorm men continue their three-game homestand, with the middle game against the Biola Eagles this coming Tuesday. Opening tip for the men's game is scheduled for 7:30pm this Tuesday inside of Fultz Memorial Gymnasium. The women's game will precede the men's game with a scheduled tip time set for 5:30pm.
