Box Score The Firestorm ended the regular season with another win, this one against Bacone College with a final score of 27-12, finishing a perfect 6-0 in conference play.
The ACU Football team traveled to Muskogee, Oklahoma to take on the Warriors of Bacone College Saturday afternoon. The Firestorm looked to remain perfect in conference play and finish the regular season 6-0.
The Firestorm normally have a very potent passing attack, but todays contest would see Senior running back PJ Sparks rush for a career high 31 attempts for 227 yards and one touchdown.
With the win ACU finishes the regular season with a record of 6-3. The Firestorm received votes in the latest NAIA top 25 poll and now hope the win and a few key losses by top 25 teams may make them post season eligible.
Coach Yantis had this to say about the teams performance today, "I am extremely proud of our staff and football student-athletes for their efforts today. Winning on the road is tough, winning 4 road games in 6 weeks is tougher. Enduring 4 road trips of 15+ hour bus rides and having the success we have had is remarkable. Our team has bought into the "No Excuses" attitude. They are starting to understand what is like to be a team, be selfless, and be thankful for what they do have. Our team battled in all phases of the game. Our defense was outstanding. I though our offensive line was the difference in the game. Bacone did a great job in the secondary, but we took what they gave, and ran the ball for a school record 375 yards. I am just so proud our entire program. We now await our fate in the NAIA playoffs, which will be selected on Nov 15. A big thank you to the ACU Community for their continued support of ACU Athletics! As a team, we continue to give thanks to God for providing each and every day! We are truly blessed! Palms down! Roll Storm!"
