Austin?s 27 Good For Half But Not All

Box Score

Santa Clarita, CA- On Saturday, Senior Madison Austin scored a season high 27 points which accounted for exactly half of the Arizona Christian scoring.  But the Firestorm fell 67-54 to #16 The Master's.

The first half played out as a back and forth affair that featured all eight lead changes and six ties.

Senior Jazmin Mays scored on the first ACU possession to create a 2-2 tie.  The Mustangs (14-2, 6-0 GSAC) hit a three for a 5-2 lead before Austin started her scoring for the evening.  Austin scored seven of the next eight ACU points (a free throw by Freshman Moana Hala'ufia was the lone point in the middle) and Arizona Christian held a 10-9 edge.

A layup by TMC was followed by two free throws from Freshman Courtney Christmas as the lead changed hands three times in less than a minute.  The final four points of the quarter belonged to The Master's as they held a 15-12 lead when the quarter expired.

The back and forth action continued in the second quarter.  Two free throws by Austin and a Hala'ufia jumper both gave the Firestorm (9-9, 1-4 GSAC) a brief lead.  Again the Mustangs answered and built a five point adavantage (28-23) by the break.

Austin was the game's leading scorer at the break with 11 points.

Out of the gate, the Mustangs increased their lead and with five minutes remaining in the third quarter TMC grabbed a double digit lead they would enjoy the remainder of the game.
