Box Score Phoenix, AZ- On Thursday evening, The Master's beat Arizona Christian 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-10) in large part due to the fact that the Firestorm allowed the Mustangs to hit .419 for the match.
Senior Haley Worden, playing out of her traditional libero role for the first time this season, opened the match with a service ace. A kill from Junior Deborah White moved the Firestorm back in front at 2-1. The Mustangs grabbed their first lead at 4-3 before the teams shared a few more ties. TMU built as large as a five point lead prior to ACU answering to force ties at 18-18 (service ace by Freshman Delaney Harris), 21-21 (kill by Sophomore Toria Siemens), and 22-22 (TMU error). But three of the last four points went the way of the Mustangs.
Down 2-0 to begin the second set extended out to 4-2, the Firestorm came back with a 5-0 run to build a 7-4 edge. Senior Brenna Bailey delivered two kills while Siemens had a hand in two blocks shared with Senior Samantha McCants and Junior Kinsey Pease during the run. TMU responded with a 5-0 sequence of their own to move back in front. Kills by Bailey and then Siemens produced a 9-9 tie. Unfortunately, when a kill made it 10-9 TMU, they would lead for the rest of the match.
Bailey concluded the match with nine kills. Siemens added six kills and three blocks. Worden notched five kills and a team high 11 digs.
The Firestorm will be back in action on Saturday as they host number one and currently undefeated Westmont in Fultz Memorial Gym at 7:00 pm.
