Box Score Phoenix, AZ- Like the previous 26 opponents of No. 1 Westmont, Arizona Christian could not solve the undefeated Warriors on Saturday night. Freshman Abbey Yates recorded a career high 13 digs.
In the first set, the Firestorm pushed the Warriors to the tune of seven ties and five lead changes. Two errors by WC gave ACU the early lead that they kept until the Warriors grabbed a 13-12 edge. But three straight points by the Firestorm which included two service aces from Senior Bianka Curvey sent ACU back in front. After surrendering the lead, a solo block by Senior Brenna Bailey gave Arizona Christian a 17-16 advantage. ACU was again on top at 20-19. But the Warriors then turned a 21-21 set into a 25-21 win.
Unfortunately, a tie early in the third set was the only time Westmont was not in front the remainder of the match.
Sophomore Toria Siemens topped the Firestorm with six kills. Bailey and Senior Haley Worden followed five kills apiece.
The Firestorm will spend the next four matches on the road beginning with a match on Friday at Menlo at 7:00 pm.
