Third Time Not The Charm In Finale

Box Score

El Cajon, CA- Coming up on the short end of a 2-1 score for the third time in a row was no consolation for Arizona Christian as they fell to San Diego Christian on Saturday in the season finale for both teams.  Freshman Damian Sanchez notched the ACU goal.

After both teams began the match on rapid fire (14 combined shots in the first 28 minutes) without a goal, they switched to a collective effort of goals come in bunches.

Freshman Juan Mora threaded the nettle with a pass for Sanchez who finished off his second goal of the season for a 1-0 ACU edge.

But six minutes later and the next shot of the contest tied the score at 1-1.

Senior Jacob Drenth sent a header wide before SDCC capitalized on their second goal of the day in the 38th minute.

As it turned out after shooting 20 combined times in the first 45 minutes, the teams eased off the firing trigger and released just nine shots with a total of three on goal in the final half of their seasons.

Senior Luis Tapia accounted for three of the 15 shots by ACU in his final collegiate game.

Freshman Joshua Stewart recorded six saves to finish the regular season atop the GSAC with 94 saves.
