Firestorm Finish In Order

Hurricane, UT- In a random chance of finish, the Arizona Christian women's golf team ended up on the leaderboard in alphabetical order on Tuesday at the Dixie State Invitational.  As a team, they finished their two rounds 11th out of 13 at the Sand Hallow Golf Course.

Fighting wind all day on Monday, only one golfer in the 73 player field navigated the course to conclude the first round on par.  Tuesday was a different story as 11 players recorded under or even rounds.  The team scores reflected the better individual scores as all schools improved their overall score from day one to day two including a 20 stroke improvement from one unit.  The Firestorm- the only NAIA program in the NCAA DII tournament- were no exception as they fired a 329 on Monday before dropping down to a 318 in the second round for a 647.

Junior Alysha Danache was the top ACU performer all tournament long.  On Monday, she wound up tied in 12th place with a four over 76.  On Tuesday, she dropped a stroke on the course as she notched a 77.  Her 153 put Danache in a seven way tied for 23rd.

Sophomore Jordyn Deardorff and Senior Sarah Kaye produced the same tournament score of 159- tied for 40th.  Deardorff fired a first round of 82 before coming back with a second round of 77.  Kaye started with an 81 before improving to a 78 in her final 18 holes.

Freshman Rina Labianca locked up a 90 on day one.  But her second trip through the course ended up as a positive four stroke difference (86) on the scorecard.

Junior Sylvia Renfroe rounded out the ACU quintet with scores of 94 and 101.

In two weeks, the Firestorm will remain in Arizona as they participate in the Embry-Riddle Invitational. They will tee off at the Talking Rock Golf Club in Prescott on October 17 and 18.
