Page, Ariz.- Arizona Christian Women's Golf made a strong climb up the leaderboard at The Bandy Invitational, finishing second out of six teams at the Lake Powell National Golf Club.
The Firestorm improved from third after round one to secure runner-up honors with team scores of 314 and 313 on the par-72, 5,812-yard course.
Leading the way,
Taylor Crowder delivered an impressive surge up the standings. After opening with an 81, she fired a 71 in round two to finish fourth overall at 152—jumping from 21st place after day one. She edged teammate
Nikki Bowen by a single stroke, as Bowen posted rounds of 74 and 79 to place fifth at 153.
Jaidyn Eldridge contributed with a tie for 11th after rounds of 77 and 81 (158).
Grace Shaddle recorded consistent rounds of 82-82, while
Elizabeth Felix added scores of 85-85.
Competing as an individual,
Madison Brouillard showed one of the biggest improvements in the field, shaving eight strokes off her first-round score (84-76).
Embry-Riddle (AZ) claimed the team title with a 605 (304-301), followed by Arizona Christian at 627 (314-313). OUAZ took third at 632, with Grace (IN), College of Idaho, and Simpson (CA) rounding out the field.
Climbing the leaderboard in their final tuneup before the GSAC Championships will give the Firestorm confidence as they head to the La Purisima Golf Course in two weeks.
