Four Run In Three Events

Phoenix, AZ- The ACU Men's Track team doubled in size from the previous week's participation with four of the six runners on Saturday running in three events at the PVCC Indoor Invitational.

Junior Marcus Howard once again paced the Firestorm as he ran in three events- setting season records in two events.  He dropped down to 8.78 in the 60m hurdles and placed third.  With a 1:24.61 time, he finished third in the 600m race.

Sophomore Karl Kleppe posted times of 10.97 in the 60m hurdles and 25.47 at the 200m distance.

Making his season debut, Sophomore Rodrick Griffin ran in the 60m hurdles (time of 9.49) and 400m (52 seconds flat).

Also making his season debut, Sophomore Justin Barnes doubled up in the 200m and 400m with times of 23.82 and 53.30.

The quartet of Howard, Kleppe, Griffin, and Barnes teamed up for their third event of the day in 4x400 relay and ended up with a time of 3:38.15.

Sophomore Tyler Ellenberger laced up the shoes for the first time this season posting times of 7.92 at the 60 meter distance and then 26.37 running in the 200 meter race.

Freshman Tanner Hilton ran in the two distances of 600m and 1,000m.  His first appearance in the 600m race resulted in a time of 1:29.39.  As the lone ACU representative in 1,000m, he delivered a time of 2:59.23.

The ACU track team will travel to Tucson this weekend to participate in the Aztec Indoor Invitational hosted by Pima Community College.
