Box Score San Diego, CA- On Saturday, #10 Arizona Christian cruised past San Diego Christian 7-2 to remain unbeaten on the year. Through there was some impressive singles work done, the Firestorm made a statement in doubles as they won all three matches with a scores of 8-2.
With play beginning in singles, Junior Lauryn Sullins did not lose a game as she dominated 6-0 and 6-0 on court six.
Freshman Tia Okano, Sophomore Mikayla Morgan, and Senior Desiree Jackson were dialed in as well as they all won in straight sets with each having a 6-3 set as their closest set of the day.
The last singles match playing was on the fourth court with Senior Iulia Marcenco facing SDCC's Heather Borsos. Marcenco won the first set 6-2 before Borsos answered by winning the last two sets with matching 6-2 scores.
Despite the court four result, the Firestorm (4-0, 2-0 GSAC) held a comfortable 4-2 edge headed into doubles.
When Okano and Marcenco beat the other two courts to their 8-2 scores, ACU earned their fifth point needed for the team victory.
Head Coach Chris Tolson stated, "The women continue to play well against GSAC competition! It was a great day for the women."
After returning home for the beginning of the week, Arizona Christian will head right back to California for a match on Thursday with NCAA Division III Occidental. The Firestorm and Tigers will serve it up at 5:00 pm (AT)/ 4:00 pm (PT).
