Firestorm No Trouble With Tigers

Los Angeles, CA- Arizona Christian had little trouble with Occidental on Thursday evening as they won 9-0.  Of the 16 total sets played, seven of them resulted in the Firestorm not losing a game.

Sophomore Mikayla Morgan and Freshman Tia Okano set the tone early with an 8-0 win on doubles court two.  Freshman Desiree Curiel and Junior Lauryn Sullins were not far behind on court three with an 8-2 win.  Seniors Desiree Jackson and Iulia Marcenco rallied together for an 8-6 court one win.

In singles, Marcenco (court four) and Sullins (court six) did not lose a game as they swept 6-0 and 6-0.

Okano was on her game as she wrapped up her court three win with scores of 6-0 and 6-2.

Morgan dropped three games in her first set against Keilani Bonis-Ericksen but prevailed 6-3.  In the second set on court two, Morgan eased though a 6-0 win.

On court one, Jackson and Samantha Farrell battled in the first set with Jackson pulling the 7-5 victory. Jackson returned to dominant form as she won 6-2 in the second set.

Court five was the only match to play on into a third set.  After dropping the first set 6-2, Curiel rebounded with a 6-2 win of her own to set up a super tie break third set.  Curiel held off Andrea Clawson 10-8 to seal her win.

In very rare Sunday action, the Firestorm will host Hastings (NE) this Sunday at Glendale Community College for a 5:00 pm match.
