Firestorm Disperse Of Hawks

Phoenix, AZ- On Saturday, #8 Arizona Christian used four wins in singles to disperse of San Diego Christian 6-3.  Sophomore Mikayla Morgan was the only Firestorm to win both matches.

With the Hawks (2-6, 2-3 GSAC) only able to field five players, the Firestorm (11-0, 5-0 GSAC) were awarded two default points before the first racquet was swung at the Phoenix Tennis Center.

The teams split the two doubles matches contested.  Senior Desiree Jackson joined Morgan on court one and they prevailed 8-3.  But Freshman Tia Okano and Senior Iulia Marcenco came up on the short end of a 9-7 score on the second court.

In singles, Okano eased her way through the action on court three with scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

After SDC claimed the fifth court, Marcenco survived her first set 7-6 on the fourth court.  But she put forth a 6-0 effort in the second set to claim her singles match as well as the team match.

Court one saw three sets of action after Jackson won the first set 6-4 before dropping the last two sets 6-2 and 6-0.

Morgan had her hands full on court two- the final match playing on the day.  In the end, she took set wins of 6-4 and 7-5.

On Saturday, the Firestorm will begin a three match in three days Southern California trip in Santa Barbara.  The match with Westmont will start 11:00 am.
