Firestorm Pull Out 6-3 Win

Box Score

Thousand Oaks, CA- After losing two of three in doubles, Arizona Christian responded by winning five of six in singles.  Senior Desiree Jackson had the easiest time on her way to winning both matches.

The Regals (3-2) won the first doubles match before Jackson and Sophomore Mikayla Morgan swept number one doubles.  CLU grabbed number two doubles in tiebreak fashion for a 2-1 edge.

Jackson and Freshman Tia Okano tied and moved ACU ahead in the match with wins on courts one and two.

After Cal Lutheran forced a tie again, the Firestorm (9-0) ran the gambit for the win.  Courts six, two, and four all played into the third set but Junior Lauryn Sullins, Senior Iulia Marcenco, and Morgan all earned wins.

Head Coach Chris Tolson stated, "It was a tough match. Came down to #6, 2 and 4 singles splitting sets and we came out winning all three matches.  Our team did a great job of hanging in and fighting against a strong team. These girls were tested mentally, physically and spiritually. It's so great to see this team come together; girls and the guys to help push each person to be better. I love this group and it's been such a fun ride so far this season."

Both tennis teams return to GSAC play on Saturday when they travel to Biola.  The women are scheduled for a 1:00 pm (PT)/ 2:00 pm (AT) first serve.
