Flat Tire and No. 3 Warriors Equals Tough Day

Box Score

Santa Barbara, CA- After being stuck on the 10 freeway for about four hours due to a flat tire, Arizona Christian had to face #3 Westmont on Friday night.  Neither was a fun experience for the Firestorm as they lost 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-9) to the Warriors.

The first six points looked promising as the Firestorm (1-5, 0-3 GSAC) held a 4-2 lead capped by a kill from Senior Brenna Bailey.  But the Warriors (14-0, 3-0 GSAC) countered with the next five points to grab the lead and not look back.

Six total ACU first set kills was not to be enough to overcome the 14 kills from WC.

Senior Samantha McCants forced a 1-1 tie with a kill to begin the second set.  However, another five point run from the Warriors made the double ones the final tie of the match.

For perspective, ACU produced 91 total attempts on the night while WC needed just 68 swings.  The Firestorm just could not slow the Warriors as Westmont only committed four hitting errors against 22 hitting errors by Arizona Christian.

Bailey accounted for eight of the 17 ACU kills and was the only Firestorm with a positive hitting percentage for an ACU player attempting more than two attacks.

On Saturday, the Firestorm are hoping for a less eventful day in an effort to right the ship as they face off with The Master's in Santa Clarita at 4:00 pm.
