Box Score Santa Clarita, CA- On Saturday, ACU volleyball came up short 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-13) at The Master's. Freshman Delaney Harris helped the Firestorm cause with 12 assists and 11 digs.
Senior Samantha McCants was on target to begin the match as she delivered a kill and service ace for the first two points of the night. ACU stayed in front until 4-3 when the Mustangs (10-5, 3-1 GSAC) grabbed a 5-4 lead. A kill from Junior Deborah White moved ACU back ahead with a kill at 9-8. There were 10 ties in the set with the final tie at 14-14. TMU scored the next four points and stayed in front the rest of the first set and all of the second set.
McCants and Senior Brenna Bailey both recorded four kills in the opening set before adding three and two kills respectively in the second set.
A service error gave the Firestorm (1-6, 0-4 GSAC) a 1-0 edge to begin the third set. The next two points went the way of the Mustangs. ACU forced ties at 2-2, 5-5, 6-6, and 7-7 before TMU moved ahead for good at 8-7.
With the final whistle, Bailey topped with nine kills. McCants ended with eight kills.
On Tuesday, the Firestorm will face off with San Diego Christian at the Santee Boys and Girls Club with first serve coming at 7:30 pm.
