Box Score Santee, CA- Junior Jackie Stein recorded a match high 14 kills (while hitting .407) leading Arizona Christian past San Diego Christian 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, and 25-13) on Saturday.
The match began with the Firestorm (11-10, 2-6 GSAC) jumping out to a 6-0 lead with two kills from Stein and one from Senior Kinsey Pease. The set was not any closer than three points the rest of the way.
ACU hit .333 as a team in the first set.
Junior Breanna Scott and Senior Toria Siemens went back-to-back with kills to begin the second set. But the set was far from over as the teams exchanged nine ties and six lead changes. The Hawks (7-12, 1-6 GSAC) were ahead 21-18. But thanks to three SDCC errors and a kill from Pease, Stein, and Siemens, ACU closed out the set on a 7-0 run for the win.
Only three errors for ACU in the second set saw them hit at an even better clip of .375.
Set three started off with three ties and one lead change in the first six points. However, Siemens threw down a kill at 4-3 and ACU stayed ahead for the set and match win.
By the end of the match, ACU impressed with .337 hitting- their best hitting effort of the year.
After Stein and her 14 kills, Senior Alli Lemnitzer, Siemens, and Scott all followed with seven kills. Pease hit .667 while dishing out 32 assists. Sophomore Delaney Harris rattled off four service aces to go along with her 11 digs.
On Thursday, the Firestorm will host William Jessup at 7:00 pm.
