WVB Strong Third Set Not Enough Against No. 7 Westmont

Box Score

Phoenix, AZ- Playing for the final time at home this season, Arizona Christian rallied for a strong third set but #7 Westmont was too much as the Warriors won 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-20).  Junior Jackie Stein had a team high eight kills.

After falling behind for good less than 10 points into both of the first two sets, the Firestorm (12-13, 3-9 GSAC) applied the pressure in the third set.  A Stein kill and block by Senior Toria Siemens and Stein moved ACU ahead 2-0.  ACU remained ahead until 11-10.  The Warriors (27-3, 11-0 GSAC) briefly took the lead at 12-11 and 13-12.  Arizona Christian went on a 4-0 run to move back in front highlighted by back-to-back blocks from Senior Debbie White and Freshman Stephanie Anguelsky.  With ACU leading 18-16, a 5-0 effort by Westmont gave them the lead for the rest of the match.

Senior Kinsey Pease (10 assists) and Sophomore Delaney Harris (10 digs) were the only Firestorm to reach double digits in a category.

The Firestorm head out on the road for the rest of their season which they hope continues on into the GSAC playoffs in two weeks.  On Friday, they will travel to Hope International in Fullerton, CA, for a 7:00 pm match.
