Firestorm Fall to Sharp Shooting Warriors

Box Score

Santa Barbara- A 57% shooting night, tough defense, and 13 three pointers proved to be too much for the Firestorm to handle on Thursday night as they fell to the Westmont Warriors 101-61. After a slow start to the game, it seemed like the Warriors just simply couldn't miss.

The Firestorm (15-9, 2-9 GSAC) got off to a great start, with Senior Guard Mishima Gray scoring their first seven points. He and Senior Forward Chris Sterling both finished with 15 points to lead the Firestorm, but that proved to not be enough once Cory Blau got going for Westmont (20-5, 8-4 GSAC). Finishing with 19 points, it was clear that everything the Warriors did on offense was running through him. Midway through the first half, with the score tied 15-15, it seemed like this had the makings of a very traditional back and forth battle game between these Golden State Athletic Conference rivals. But with the Firestorm suddenly going cold, the Warriors went on an 18-2 run and never looked back.

Up next for the Firestorm, they will head to Santa Clarita to take on #23 The Masters University this Saturday (5:00pm AZ time).
