Firestorm Opened Spring Schedule At CBU Invitational

Corona, CA- Arizona Christian Women's Golf opened the spring portion of their schedule by playing in the CBU Women's Invitational at the Eagle Glen Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Facing a field of primarily NCAA Division II foes, the Firestorm had their work cut out for them.  Four of the five Firestorm lowered their scores from round one to round two.

Senior Sarah Kaye produced a first round 84 before dropping down to a five over 77 in the second round.  Birdies on holes 3 and 18 helped her cause.  On Tuesday, holes 13-18 saw her play one under par golf.  She finished 43rd in a loaded field of 100 golfers.

Junior Alysha Danache began her effort with an 81 thanks to parring ten of the first 18 holes.  She parred nine holes in the second round but had a rough hole 18 that dropped her score down to 86.  Danache claimed 58th place.

Junior Sylvia Renfroe dropped three strokes off her score card in the second round.

A birdie on the eighth hole of the second round was highlight of the tournament for Freshman Rina Labianca.

Senior Amber Rayls rounded out the five ACU players in the tournament.

The Firestorm will return to competitive action on March 20 and 21 at the Embry-Riddle Spring Invitational played up in Prescott on the south course of the Antelope Hills Golf Course.
