Box Score Glendale, CA- On Wednesday, Arizona Christian needed the minimum number of sets to beat Occidental 9-0. Three game wins in a set was most allowed by ACU at the Scholl Canyon Tennis Center. Sophomore Tia Okano did not drop a game all match winning 8-0 in doubles and 6-0, 6-0 in singles.
Beginning with doubles, the Firestorm (4-2) set the tone early as they won all three matches 8-0.
Junior Autria Compton used scores of 6-3 and 6-0 on the fifth court to account for the first singles win.
Okano blanked Andrea Clawson with a pair of 6-0 wins to lock up the team win.
Freshmen Melanie Dreux and Elizabeth Kelley needed 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-3 results respectively to earn wins on courts four and five.
Court one saw Junior Mikayla Morgan control the action to the tune of 6-2 and 6-1 scores.
The final match playing on the day sent Freshman Jayci Kelley up against Alana Adelman. J. Kelley prevailed with a double 6-3 win.
Head Coach Chris Tolson stated, "The women continue to dominate doubles. They are really working well together and owning the net against their opponents."
On Thursday, the #13 Firestorm will open Golden State Athletic Conference play as they meet up with #18 San Diego Christian. The NAIA Top 25 showdown is set for a 12:00 pm first serve at Grossmont College.
