Firestorm Control Singles In Win Over Biola

Phoenix, AZ- On Saturday, Arizona Christian Women's Tennis used a strong effort in singles to beat Biola 6-3.  On the strength of winning five of six singles matches, the Firestorm secured the team victory. Junior Mikayla Morgan and Freshman Elizabeth Kelley were the only two to win in both singles and doubles.

Opening the match with singles play at the Phoenix Tennis Center, Morgan and Sophomore Tia Okano made quick work of their individual action on courts one and two- winning 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0 respectively.

Kelley was the next winner for the Firestorm (9-4, 2-1 GSAC) on court five with scores of 6-3 and 7-5 over Biola's Kelsey Post.

Freshman Jayci Kelley concluded her work on court six with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

The Eagles (2-8, 1-3 GSAC) earned their lone singles team point on court four when Tinisee KanadakaI beat Junior Autria Compton 6-3 and 6-1.

However in the final singles match playing on the day, Freshman Melanie Dreux held on for the 6-4 and 6-3 win on court three to allow ACU to wrap up the team win before pairing off for doubles.

When the teams hit doubles, Biola solved courts two and three with 8-5 and 8-4 wins.

On court one, Morgan and E. Kelley outlasted their Biola counterparts with a score of 8-6 to lock in the final ACU point.

Head Coach Chris Tolson offered these thoughts, "Women came out fast in singles.  It was good to see them play so well today."

On Monday, the ACU women with host NCAA DI St. Cloud State at the Phoenix Tennis Center at 10:00 am.
