Costa Mesa, CA- After a close first half, the second half especially the final 17 minutes was anything but as Arizona Christian fell 6-1 to #17 Vanguard.  Senior Alonso Quintero scored for the Firestorm.

Just over a minute in, the Lions (7-2, 2-0 GSAC) took the first shot and 30 seconds later their second shot found the net.

Sophomore Alex Segura saw his shot blocked in the fourth minute.  Less than a minute later, Quintero served a corner directly into the goal for the 1-1 tie.  For Quintero it was his first goal of the season.

In the 17th minute, Vanguard moved out to a 2-1 lead.

Although Vanguard outshot Arizona Christian 20-7 in the first 45 minutes, the score remained 2-1 VU at the break.  Freshman Cordell Irving help keep ACU close as he made seven first half saves.  He ended his first collegiate action with 10 saves.

The Firestorm (5-4, 0-2 GSAC) used the bend but don't break defense for the first 28 minutes of the second half as they kept their deficit at 2-1.

However, the final 17 minutes saw the flood gates open for Vanguard as they scored four times in that final time frame.

On Thursday, ACU will host Westmont for a 7:30 kickoff at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex.
