Men's Track Competes At Mesa

Mesa, AZ- The ACU Men's Track team competed at the Mesa Indoor Invitational on Monday.  Sophomore Zak Kleppe bettered the 60 meter hurdle school record.  A couple other personal bests were created.

The 60 meter race was the most populated ACU event as six guys sprinted down the track.  Sophomore Joe Avance III was the fastest with a 7.29 effort.  Avance was the only one to run the 200 and posted a time of 22.78.

Freshman Jared Valadez trimmed 28 seconds off his 3,000 meter time.

Kleppe recorded a time of 8.43 in the 60 meter hurdles lowering his school record that he set in the previous ACU meet.

The quartet of Freshman Carlos Parra-Cihak, Sophomore Alias Sturges, Sophomore Van Dion, and Kleppe ran the 4x400 relay and reduced their season best time to 3:24.69.

Sturges traveled the furthest for ACU in the long jump (20'11.75") and triple jump (43'6.5").

Freshman Matt Totah threw the shot put 36'5.75" to increase his personal best mark.

On Friday, the Firestorm will participate in the NAU Tune Up making their final bid for NAIA Indoor Nationals.
