Firestorm Progressing Along

Irvine, CA- ACU Men's Track took part in the Team 4 Titus & Ely meet at Concordia (CA) on Saturday.  The Firestorm posted 22 times or marks with 17 of those efforts ending up in at least season best results.  Senior Kendrick Murphy appeared in five events with a school record and four season best listings.

Four Firestorm raced in the 100m race.  Murphy posted the best ACU time of 10.90- claiming fifth.  Sophomore Joe Avance III was next at 11.14.  Freshman Billy Carter (11.76) and Zach Chambers (13.28) were in the mix.

Junior Tanner Hilton covered his 800m run in 2:04.31.  Freshman Jared Valadez recorded a season best 800m run before challenging the 1,500m race.

The 4x100 (42.76) and 4x400 (3:27.31) relays posted season low times.  Murphy and Sophomore Alias Sturges were part of both team relays.

In the jumps, Murphy raised the school record in the high jump to 6'4.75".  Freshman Tyler Black cleared 13'5.75" in the pole vault.  Sturges went a team best 21'4.75" in the long jump.  Murphy (20'10"), Sophomore Van Dion (20'7.25"), and Carter (19'10.25") had season best long jumps.  Carter went 40'4.75" in the triple jump.

Only two throwing events were on the schedule.  Senior Adrian Releford heaved the shot put 38'1.25".  Releford added a discus throw of 125'9".  Junior Jordan Leary tossed the shot put 34'7.5".

On Friday, April 13, the Firestorm will be at Mesa Community College for the Mesa Outdoor Invitational.
