Firestorm Shutout Antelope Valley

Phoenix, AZ – The Arizona Christian men's soccer team improved to 2-0-1 on the season after the 4-0 shutout victory over the University of Antelope Valley (0-1) on Thursday night.

Junior Damian Sanchez scored two first half goals and added a second half assist to lead the Firestorm to victory after a long wait to get started following weather delays.

With a 2-0 advantage coming out of the halftime break, Sophomore Lukas Macho added to the Firestorm lead when put home the rebound from Junior Alex Segura.

Segura then added a goal of his own off the pass from Sanchez to account for the final 4-0 advantage.

Sophomore Luke Holt worked the entire contest in goal to record his first shutout of the season.

"I am proud of how the team handled the circumstances surrounding the game tonight," said Head Coach Andrew Belleman. "Antelope Valley started the game very well and we were able to absorb a little bit and then settled down and played very well. We are looking forward to another contest on Saturday."

The Firestorm return to action on Saturday when they host the University of the Southwest from Scottsdale Christian Academy. The contest will be preceded by the women's soccer match and will kick off at 1:30 pm.
