Better And Better Shooting Sends ACU Past Royals

Phoenix, AZ- On Thursday night, Arizona Christian shot better and better as the game went along as they slowing pulled away from Hope International in their 109-89 win.  Seven of the nine Firestorm that played reached double digits in scoring.

  • HIU lead 6-2 early before three ties and two lead changes produced a 12-12 tie
  • Acedo broke the tie with a three pointer and ACU stayed in front for good
  • The Firestorm started the game going 2-10 (20%) before making 32-49 shots (65.3%) the rest of the way
  • All three shooting areas where better in the second half for ACU

"The guys played really well tonight.  I think our point total is a reflection of good decisions and taking quality shots.  We did a nice job taking care of the ball and finding each other tonight.  I thought we did a pretty nice job defensively as well.  Despite the 89 points given up and 38 free throws Hope got to shoot, we really battled.  Thought we did a better job contesting shots and defending the three-point line than we have been."

Saturday's game against Life Pacific will be the final home of the season.  With the move to a new campus before next school year, Saturday will also be the final ACU basketball game in the original version of Fultz Memorial Gym.  Tip-off against the Warriors will be at 3:00 pm.
