Lopez's Strike Leads Firestorm Past Hawks

Temecula, CA - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (9-0-1, 3-0-0) grinded out a 1-0 shutout win over San Diego Christian (3-5-2, 1-2-0) on Thursday afternoon at Galway Downs in Temecula.

Thoughts From Coach:

After the match, Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki stated, "Today was a physical battle against a good team. I'm proud of our guys for finding a way to dig in and compete. We must be ready for another battle this Saturday."

The Game:

The Firestorm created several chances to start the first half, but the Hawks came up with several big stops to keep them off the board. The Firestorm would finally break through late in the half at 37:22 when Esteban Franco would take advantage of a bad pass and then slot the ball to German Lopez who finished to make it 1-0 at halftime. The Firestorm created several more opportunities in the second half but were unable to add more goals. However, the defense led by Andres Arce held the Hawks off the board extending their shutout streak to 412 minutes as he picked up his fourth shutout in a row in the 1-0 victory. Lopez and Franco also continue to lead the NAIA in goals and assists respectively.
