Surprise, AZ - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (11-4-2) fell 3-0 to #17 Vanguard (13-3-1) on Thursday afternoon in GSAC semifinal action at Vanguard Soccer Complex in Costa Mesa, CA.

Thoughts From Coach:

"I am incredibly proud of our guys for what they have accomplished this year. Our guys have created new history for this program and have continued to grow the culture that we set out to create at the start of this year. Our seniors were so solid for us this year and the hardest part of today is knowing that our time together on the field has come to an end. I love each and every guy on this team and it has been a privilege to be their coach this year."

The Game:

The Firestorm had a great chance to get on the board midway through the first as Esteban Franco delivered a great strike, but it was saved at full stretch by the Lions as the game remained scoreless. Shortly after that the Lions would breakthrough at 28:49 to make it 1-0. The Firestorm had another great chance late in the half after an error by the Vanguard keeper but were unable to convert as the Lions led 1-0 at halftime. The Firestorm had some chances early in the second half but couldn't connect while Vanguard scored two more late in the game as they went on to win 3-0.

The Firestorm will have to wait and see if they are selected for the NAIA playoffs which will feature 40 teams and begin Nov. 18-20 at select locations. The selection show can be watched here on Monday, November 15 at 11:00 AM MT.
