Late Comeback Attempt Falls Short at William Jessup

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (4-5-0; 2-2-0 GSAC) attempted a late comeback Thursday afternoon, but fell just short, losing 2-1 to William Jessup University (4-3-0; 2-1-1 GSAC) on Jessup Field.

 

Series Notes:

 

The Firestorm move to 3-5 all-time against the Warriors with the loss and have now lost two-consecutive games to William Jessup.

 

The Game: 

 

William Jessup scored twice in the second half and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.  The Firestorm battled back in the second half though with Savino Livornese finding the back of the net at 58:09 to bring his team within one.  Despite ACU's late push, William Jessup held them off for the remainder of the game en route to picking up the 2-1 victory.

"Today was a cruel reminder that the quality of a team's play is not always reflected in the final line.  I felt that our men played some of their best football all season, but made two mistakes early in the first half.  I can't praise our guys enough for their resilience and the effort they gave."
