Box Score Pasadena, CA - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (4-0-1) came from behind to defeat Providence Christian (0-2) on Saturday afternoon in Pasadena, CA as they continued their unbeaten run.
Thoughts from Coach:
After the match, Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki stated, "We put ourselves in a hole in the first half, Providence defended compact and well. Our guys made some adjustments in the second half and were able to create more chances. Really happy with the response after going down a goal."
The Game:
Despite outshooting Providence Christian 9-4 in the first half the Firestorm found themselves trailing as the Sea Beggars opened the scoring at 35:29 to make it 1-0. Right before halftime the Sea Beggars put themselves in a tough spot as they had a man sent off but still led 1-0 at halftime. The Firestorm regrouped at halftime and took advantage of their man up situation as Ricardo Rivas struck to tie the game 1-1 at 51:11. No sooner had he scored then German Lopez got on the board after a great setup of passes from Savino Livornese and Esteban Franco to make it 2-1. The Firestorm weren't done though as Esteban Franco scored his first at 71:16 to make it 3-1. Alex Oquita then set up Austin Crable at 79:51 to push the lead to 4-1. Then Franco wrapped up the game with his second goal at 83:33 as the Firestorm prevailed 5-1.
