Lopez With Another Brace As Firestorm Blank Warriors 2-0

Box Score

Glendale, AZ - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (7-0-1, 1-0-0) continued their unbeaten run as they opened up GSAC play with a 2-0 victory over William Jessup (1-7-0, 0-0-1) on Thursday afternoon at the ACU Football Field.

Thoughts From Coach:

After the match, Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki stated, "Today was a typical conference match - neither team gave away much and it was tough for us to find our rhythm at times. I'm proud of our guys for fighting through it. We improved as the game went on after a cagey first half."

The Game:

The Firestorm started out on the front foot as they had several chances before German Lopez finally broke through off a great ball over the top from Esteban Franco to make it 1-0 at 8:33. The Firestorm continued to attack and created several great opportunities but were denied by the Warriors as the score stood 1-0 at halftime. The Warriors had created some good chances in the first half and had a few more in the second but Andres Arce came up with several saves to keep them off the board. The Firestorm then added another goal as Savino Livornese raced into the box and chipped the ball in to Lopez who scored his second of the game to make it 2-0 at 69:59. From there the Firestorm defense shut down the Warriors as they came away with the 2-0 victory.
