This season Vanguard has been known for its defense, recording three shutout victories so far this year.  That trend continued into this match with Lions keeping ACU to only three total shots in the first half.  While Lions outshot the Firestorm in this match 17-11, it was the Firestorm who made the most of their opportunities.  Molter's game-winning goal came via a pass through the middle from Abbitt, which Molter then hammered at the net, ricocheting off of the keeper into the goal.  Abbitt's insurance goal came just two minutes later off a free kick thanks to a Lions foul, of which there were plenty.  Gallardo recorded his fourth shutout of the season to help ACU become one of just two remaining teams in the GSAC without a conference loss.

The Firestorm stay right here at home for their next match this Saturday, October 15th to take on the San Diego Christian Hawks.  The match will start at 12:15 PM and the team will be honoring the senior players before kickoff at noon.
