Coach Butterfield's Thoughts

"We started off the year in a great way this weekend by going 3-0 in duals on Friday and then placing 6 wrestlers at the very tough Mile High Open hosted by ERAU on Saturday.  Friday we defeated NCAA D2 New Mexico Highlands University after it came down to criteria (most pins/forfeits) after tying the score 21-21 due to some of our guys pulling out big wins.  Saturday we kept the momentum by defeating several conference and nationally ranked opponents en route to placing 6 total wrestlers, all different weights.  Kaden Martin led the charge by defeating the #23 wrestler in the NAIA from Doane and the #25 ranked wrestler in Division 2 from New Mexico Highlands.  We will ride that momentum into this next week when we compete at the Life U Open in Atlanta, one of the nations premier NAIA tournaments.  These guys continue to get better every single day and we are excited for the opportunity to showcase that on the national stage this following week.

Next on the schedule:

ACU Wrestling will head south to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the Life University Open.  The Firestorm will be going up against some of the best wrestling programs in the country, and have a great opportunity to showcase the outstanding talent of this team.  Follow @firestorm_wrestling on instagram and @ACUwrestling on twitter for live updates from the tournament.
