Firestorm Falter To Finish Third

Beaumont, Cali.- After claiming a one stroke lead following the first round's conclusion, ACU Men's Golf slipped back to finish third in the Vanguard Fall Invitational. Matt Campbell, who was the solo leader after a round-one 69, struggled on day two and posted a 79 to fall back to a share of third place. Gaige Pilot competed as an individual and took sixth alone after rounds of 73-77 and junior Sam Cox fired the team's low round (74) of day two to tie for 12th.

Freshman Kale Parthen shot 80-76 in his first tournament at ACU to share 12th with Cox. Kyle Roberts managed scores of 75-83 while Ryan Heinz could not seem to find his usual rhythm with an 83 backing up a 79. Hope International hung on for a three-shot victory over Embry-Riddle (AZ) and ACU spotted The Master's by one stroke.
