Lompoc, Calif.- At the 2026 GSAC Championships held at La Purisima Golf Course (Par 72, 6,799 yards), the Arizona Christian men saved their best for last, surging into a second-place finish behind a standout final round.
For their season long and tournament effort,
Hudson Hobbs and
Apollos Morris were named All-GSAC. Morris was also named the GSAC Newcomer of the Year.
Trailing by two strokes entering Wednesday's decisive third round, the Firestorm responded with their strongest performance of the tournament, carding a 302 - their lowest round of the event and tied for the second-best team round of the championship. That late push lifted ACU to a runner-up finish with a three-round total of 926 (308-316-302).
Leading the charge was GSAC individual champion Hobbs, who sealed medalist honors with a composed final-round 73 (+1), the best round of the day among the field's top contenders. Hobbs finished at 220 (+4) for the tournament, building on earlier rounds of 72 (E) and 75 (+3) to claim the title.
Arjin Yalcinkaya matched Hobbs' final-round effort with a 73 (+1), making a significant jump up the leaderboard to finish tied for 22nd at 236 (+20). His strong closing round provided a key boost in the team's surge.
Brock Auclair added a 77 (+5) in the final round to also finish tied for 22nd, while
Luke Dickinson delivered consistency across all three rounds with scores of 81, 79, and 80, ending tied for 29th. Â Morris rounded out the scoring five, posting a steady 79 (+7) in the final round.
Arizona Christian's final-round push wasn't enough to catch tournament champion OUAZ (909), but the Firestorm's closing performance showcased resilience and depth, highlighted by Hobbs' championship run and a collective effort that pushed them up in the potential NAIA National Tournament field conversation. If selected, the NAIA National Championship will be May 12-15 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, IL.
Congratulations GSAC Champ
Hudson Hobbs!
